30 years of experience working with adults and adolescents in the Bristol NHS, (CAMHS), counselling agencies and other therapy settings.
I specialise in working with anxiety and other mood related issues. These include Generalised Anxieties that affect the mind, body and general wellbeing and other related conditions such as: Phobias, trauma (PTSD), depression and mood management (anger and emotional outbursts), stress management, panic attacks, self-harm, self-esteem, relationship issues, OCD and addictions (alcohol and drugs), amongst other life challenges.
I am used to adapting my therapeutic approach, so I can help my clients navigate the the interplay between the above issues and the impact of neurodiversities such as ADHD and autism.
Adolescence and Young People: My experience and training enables me to work effectively with all the above issues across the age ranges. I have extensive experience and specialist skills gained by working with adolescents across the City of Bristol. I am effective at using evidenced based therapies, such as CBT and Solution Focused Therapy, and can draw on other therapeutic resources to support the most common presenting problems faced by young people, such as anxiety, Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA), depression and mood management, self-harm, stress management, self-esteem, social anxiety, panic attacks, OCD, drug and alcohol misuse.
I have worked extensively within school mental health and other support services, to assist young people, their families and carers. This has included the running of Parenting Programmes, designed to equip and give confidence to parents and carers, as they introduce strategies at home which will help them support and optimise the quality of their children’s lives.
I am also a qualified and registered Hypnotherapist and Coach supporting people to make effective change in their lives inclusive of smoking cessation, addictions, phobias and anxieties, weight management, personal development and health improvement.
